What happens when palm oil plantations are built?

Deforestation - Cutting down trees

If the palm oil plantations are unsustainable they cut down large areas of the jungle to build the plantations. This destroys both plants and animal species. Most of the worlds palm oil is produced in Indonesia and Malaysia (85%) where there are lots of jungle areas. A lot of these are being destroyed.
